2023年度ABB翻訳ボランティア後期活動終了

This year's second session of translation activities have finished. The theme this time was SDG 12: "responsible consumption and production."

As usual, students first watched 10 videos about the theme, for example, using old smart phones to make artworks, learning to fix things instead of throwing them away and buying new replacements, and so on.

Then, they chose which video's subtitles they wanted to translate into Japanese, and made groups based on these choices.

Next, they translated these following the advice on translating from Asuka Academy's website.

After this, students checked and improved another group's translation and the translations were submitted to Asuka Academy.

Finally, the facilitator from Asuka Academy gave feedback about the students' work and the translation process during today's meeting.

The facillitator especially commented on how the process of translation can deepen students' understanding of English, and how watching videos from foreign countries also lets them encounter things from around the world. Finally, he highlighted that these activities gave them a great change to learn about the important global issues connected to SDG 12.
