2025年度第10回即興型英語ディベート
On Wednesday November 5th, we held the tenth debate meeting of this academic year. Again, students took part in two debates.
The first debate topic was Online AI should be banned.（インターネットでのAIの使用を禁止すべきである。）The second was Countries with high carbon emissions should pay climate reparations to low-emitting nations disproportionately affected by climate change. （二酸化炭素排出量が多い国は、気候変動の影響を不均衡に受けている低排出国に対して賠償金を支払うべきだ。）
There were many positive points from the day's activities, especially the enthusiastic way that students tackled the challenging second topic. Also, you can see whiteboards between tables in today's pictures. This is because the online judges have said that it is becoming harder to hear the debates because of background noise. This is actually a good thing, because the background noise is the other students' speeches! This seems to confirm what the teachers have thought, which is that the students' are generally becoming louder and more confident in their deliveries.
Our next meeting will not be until January, but over November and December we will be choosing our national tournament team members, and preparing and entering that competition, so there will still be plenty of debating here at Hibari.
