PDA即興型英語ディベート

2025年度最終回即興型英語ディベート

On 2/2 (Mon), this academic year's final debate activities were held.

First, there was one final round for all students. In that round, they debated Japan should prioritize solving domestic problems over international problems. The topic was an interesting opportunity to consider issues currently being discussed in Japan regarding problems here and Japan's role in the regional and global community.

After everyone debated in that round, we held an exhibition debate for this year's best debaters. This year's debaters have all done very well and each time many different students received best debater and POI awards. Using these results, we chose six students to debate against each other. They debated the following topic: In Japan's university entrance examinations, AO examinations should be increased rather than general entrance examinations. 日本の大学入試では、一般入試よりもAO入試を増やすべきである。

The debate was very lively with POIs from both sides, especially the opposition, and both teams presented interesting and well explained points about, for example, the need to maintain fundamental skills and knowledge levels or the important of promoting extra curricular activities such as research or volunteering. One of the PDA staff, one Hibari Global Division member, and the remaining students judged the debate. The result was victory for the opposition team! Congratulations to the opposition members and thank you very much to the six members chosen for a final wonderful debate!
