PDA即興型英語ディベート
2025年度第3回即興型英語ディベート
On Monday June 16th, we held the third debate meeting of this academic year.
First, students were introduced to clash points - which are the fundamental differences between the two teams in the debate are found. Then the students reviewed brainstorming ideas for the debate, while considering possible clash points that may arise. Next, students watched a recorded debate that did not have the final summary speech, and took notes. Then, they were give some hints about how to summarize a debate, and spent some time in groups planning a final summary for the debate they had watched. With this activity, students have now practiced the basic skills needed for each of the speaker roles in a PDA-style debate.
Next, students participated in debate judged by online judges. The topic was As pets, robot dogs are better than real dogs. ペットは、本物の犬より、ロボット犬の方がよい。The students very well and seem to be becoming comfortable with the flow of a PDA-style debate.
Finally, students were encouraged to review the materials they have been given until now and to read the news to have more information for future debates.
