2025年度第７回即興型英語ディベート
On Monday September 22nd we held the seventh debate meeting of this academic year. This was the first meeting when the students would do two debates, which began after a brief reminder to think about the advice the judges have given them and the debate skills they have practiced until now.
The first debate topic was We should accept more foreign workers (外国人労働者を増やすべきである) and the second was We should introduce compulsory voting (義務投票制を導入すべきである). Both debates challenged the students with more difficult topics that required them to use their knowledge about current events as well as things learnt in the classroom and in participation in various 探究 activities. Both the observing teachers and the judges commented that the student did this very well and had deep and meaningful debates as a result. Furthermore, as the images below show, student also did well with the expression side of debating by using confident body language, gestures and eye contact. A final pleasing point was the large amount of interaction through POIs.
