海外留学・留学レポート

【アメリカ】留学レポート⑥

5 months have passed since I came here.
I decided to participate competition events of FBLA and FCCLA clubs. We will have a regional
competition this winter and some top groups(or individuals) who won the regional competitions
will be able to go to the state competition, in which students from all over Washington state will
compete. There are national competitions in the summer, but I can't go because I will be back
in Japan then.
The categories in which I compete are entrepreneurship in FCCLA, Data Analysis, Marketing,
and Business plan in FBLA.
In FCCLA competition event, I'm going to be a participant who develops a plan for a small
business using Family and Consumer Sciences skills and sound business practices. The
business must relate to an area of Family and Consumer Sciences education or related
occupations. In short, we will do a presentation about our business plan. I got my partner to
compete in it, and she has been selling her knitting items, so we are working on the business
plan for it. Until now, she has been selling them on her instagram. We are working on making a
budget, doing marketing research, and that kind of stuff.
In FBLA competition events, I'm working on them by myself.
We will take a test about marketing in the Marketing category for regional competition, We will
do a role play in state competition about marketing. My social media marketing teacher brought me a textbook, so I'm studying by using it.
We will do a presentation as if I were a consultant making data-driven recommendations for the executives whose company is going to start producing electric vehicles in Data Analysis
category. The datas about vehicles in the U.S. are provided and I'm analyzing them.
We will do a presentation of a business plan in Business plan category, but we will do it in State competitions, which is in April so I'm not currently working on it. We can participate in up to 4 categories in FBLA, so I might participate in one more.
We had Thanksgiving on November 23. I went to our grandparents' house and spent a whole
day there. We ate a lot of food and watched movies or football games. One of my favorite
dishes were Pumpkin pie and apple pie which our grandmother cooked. Every one of my host
family cooked something for that. I cooked fried rice.

One day before Thanksgiving, we had an event called "Friendsgiving" in FCCLA club. Each
member brought their food from their home to school adn invited students to the party. I made Mochi for it. My friend brought a bunch of Omusubi, whose ingredients were all meat. All food was delicious.

I asked my ELA(English Language Art) teacher and I did a presentation to tell Japanese culture
during the class. I used pictures of Hibari's uniforms and cafeteria to show what Japanese
schools look like. I was surprised that my friend told me that Hibari's school building looks like a hotel. My teacher and friends complimented me on my presentation, so I was glad about that.

Preparing for Christmas has already begun. We decorated our house and grandparents' house.
Almost all neighbors' houses are decorated with Christmas decorations.

I decorated Ms Gibbs's(our FBLA club teacher)classrooms with FBLA members.

I volunteered for a "Tree farming project" with my family every weekend for 3 weeks. The project
was done by Boy Scouts which my host brothers belong to. We shaked and wrapped Christmas
trees which customers bought in the tree farm. I worked for 5 hours each day so it was tough
but I liked the job.
We went to a science dome in Pierce college with CAP members. We saw the planetarium
there. I could feel the bigness of this universe.
I got an acoustic guitar for free from school. Winter wish is the project runner by school which is
made possible by money and gift donations. Some lucky students can get their wishes and I
was the person!
