On November 23rd, the ESS Club's Rさん took part in the 33rd Japan-America Society of Kobe English Recitation and Speech Contest for High School Freshmen. Since last year, this contest's format has changed from both the preliminary round and final being recitations to the the preliminary round being a recitation and the final being a speech. This year the recitation script was from adapted from Cindy Zhang's "You are More Capable Than You Believe" TED x Youth talk.

Rさん had been practicing hard for many weeks, especially to be able to deliver the speech with a range of emotion while staying within the time limit. Rさん's efforts showed as they spoke wonderfully and filled the contest room with their energy.

This year, there were 20 speakers in the morning and the same again in the afternoon. The best speakers will be selected to progress to January's final. The results will be announced in mid-December, so we must wait and see what happens, Whatever the result, well done Rさん!
